In order to meet the needs of newly appointed governors, the Induction Course for New Governors is offered each term. On a regular basis, the Induction Course is now available during the morning and the evening.  Network Meetings continue to take place each term for Training, SEN, Literacy and Numeracy Link Governors. Dates for these meetings, together with a brief indication of the area of focus for the meeting, are given in these pages.

In order to support all governors in their ever-increasing responsibilities, training sessions on a variety of topics are also offered throughout the term. All these are available as either a morning or an evening session.

Please register for each session on line by clicking on the Register Link on the right hand side against the relevant event. Please let us know if you find you cannot attend a session which you have booked for. It creates problems in terms of catering arrangements and the preparation of course materials if governors just turn up on the night, or don't turn up when they have indicated they will be attending. When logged into Support.net you can see which events you have registered for by clicking on the Profile button at the top of the page and going to the Events tab.  You are also able to cancel registrations here as well.

How Much Does Governor Training Cost?

Many Governing Bodies have bought into the LEA's Governor Training Programme by a single annual payment. In this case there is no charge for your attendance at any of the training sessions in this booklet. If your Governing Body has not bought into the LEA's programme by a single annual payment, there is a charge of £40 per governor per session. Your Training Link Governor or Chair of Governors will have information about the funding arrangements for your particular Governing Body.
