There are a wide range of project modules to choose from. These are linked to National Curriculum requirements, and are aimed at mixed ability groups within Key Stages 1 and 2. A typical box contains 20 items including non fiction, fiction and poetry books as appropriate. Poster packs, photocopiable resources and other items are included subject to availability.

Author Boxes - Key Stage 1 and 2

Teachers can also request a selection of books by an individual author. This enables them to increase their use of fiction in the classroom and introduce children to a range of authors as they progress through school. Quality children's authors are represented at both Key Stages.

Poetry

Poetry boxes are linked to Key Stages 1 and 2 of the National Curriculum. Teacher boxes contain books from a variety of poets, themes and cultures.

Traditional Tales

Boxes will consist of a selection of traditional tales which include the original version and more recent re-tellings.

Guidelines

To ensure the smooth operation of the project library, please observe the following guidelines:

  • Each teacher is entitled to one box per term. Extra boxes are subject to availability.
  • Before the end of term, select a project from the Project Loan list, fill in a separate form for each request and send 2 copies to the School Library Service, to reach us one week before the end of term.
  • Project Boxes will be picked up from schools before the end of term.
  • Project boxes are unpacked and then repacked during the holidays for the following term. Return of boxes on time is vital to enable a prompt supply at the beginning of each term.
  • Non-return or late return of project boxes may affect your entitlement for the following term. Schools will be charged for lost or damaged items.
